He was CEO of Cowles Magazines, a large special interest publisher; and was CEO of Cahners Business Information, the largest trade publisher of business magazines in the U.S. He is also currently Chairman of Flying Rhinoceros, a children’s media company; Vice-Chairman of Nanoholdings LLC, an early stage Nanotechnology fund. He is currently a Technology Partner with Kodiak Venture Partners as well as a technology advisor to startups and large enterprises. He has been an industry leader in open source technologies, communities, and licensing helping companies create new business opportunities and partnerships. Prior to joining Kodiak, Murray worked for Computer Associates (CA) and served as Senior Vice President of Advanced Technology, with responsibility for the company’s Linux solutions. He architected the company’s strategies for enterprise storage and application management, data transport, change management and eBusiness. In addition, Murray has architected and implemented a number of industry leading products including the Performance Monitor for IDMS/R, Automated Configuration Management for Endevor Change Control, WEBEX prototype for Web remote control and a complete distributed async messaging platform (XPE) for mainframe and distributed communications. Murray holds a MS in Computer Science and a BS in Mathematics from University of Massachusetts in Amherst. |


Allen N. Blum From 1985 to 1990, Allen worked as an account executive for WPLJ Radio. In March 1990, Allen joined the staff of Time Warner CityCable as an AE. In 1991, Allen became one of the first key employees of the Time Warner News Channel in NYC, NY1 News. NY1 launched September 8th, 1992. In 1994, Allen was appointed to the position of VP, Planning and Development. In October 1995, Allen was asked to return to the day-to-day at NY1 and refocus its business. He was promoted to SVP, NY1 News. During this time he also worked with a team to build other Regional News Channels around the country. July 2001 brought a new level of responsibilities when Allen was named a Corporate SVP of Time Warner Cable. Allen created, built and ran The Media Services Group, serving both Time Warner businesses and clients outside the company. Corporate Sales Force, Long Form Advertising, Research and Creative Services/ Marketing/Production all report into this structure. Allen left Time Warner in January 2007 and is currently running a successful media consulting practice. |


Merrill Brown Merrill Brown is the founder and principal of MMB Media LLC, which provides clients with management and strategy consulting, corporate, editorial and program development, business analysis and marketing services. Since the founding of MMB Media, clients have ranged from companies in the news, information and wireless businesses to a large foundation. Brown serves as Chairman of the Board of NowPublic.com, the leading citizen journalism company in the world. Brown is also a partner in Propeller LLC, a New York consultancy, and served from 2005 through December 2007 as National Editorial Director of News for the 21st Century: Incubators of New Ideas (News 21), part of the Carnegie-Knight Initiative on the Future of Journalism Education. Before establishing MMB Media, Brown served as Senior Vice President, RealNetworks’ RealOne Services from August 2002 through August 2003. Brown became the first Editor in Chief of MSNBC.com in 1996 and became Senior Vice President there in August 2000. From 1985 to 1990, Brown was editor in chief of Channels magazine and was associated with the Washington Post from 1979 to 1985, serving as a financial reporter (1979-1982), New York financial correspondent (1982-1984) and director of business development, Washington Post Company (1984-1985). Brown also serves on the boards of Smashing Ideas, Inc., the Center for Citizen Media, New West Publishing, the International Women’s Media Foundation, iFocus, the Institute for the Connected Society, Project Agape, and the City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism. Hank Close In 2006, Hank Close assumed the role of President, MTV Networks Advertising Sales, with responsibility for all sales both television and digital for all networks and sites in the MTVN family. In 2008, he left MTV Networks with the expressed intention of exploring the media landscape, particularly the digital landscape in search of new models, breakthrough technologies, and disruptive paradigm shifters. In 2004, Viacom, Inc. purchased Time Warner’s half ownership of Comedy Partners, and Close was assimilated into the MTV Networks family. He helmed the Comedy Central sales effort for one year, and was offered the group EVP role of running sales for all MTVN music and entertainment networks (MTV, VH-1, Comedy Central, CMT, as well as all digital sales). In 1999, he accepted the EVP, Sales position at Comedy Central and ran the sales effort for all accounts. In 1989, Close was promoted to VP, Sales Development & Marketing and was responsible for the development of presentations and strategies across all account executive client and agency assignments, ostensibly to take advantage of his research comfort and marketing approach. In 1993, he was promoted to VP, Eastern Sales Region. He was elevated to Senior Vice President a year later. From 1985 to 1987 Close held the position of Primetime Sales Planner within the CBS TV Advertising Sales Group. In 1987, he left CBS Sales to accept a position at J.W. Thompson as Director, Broadcast Television Research Close and then joined Fox as VP, Director of Advertising Sales Research. In 1980, he joined the A.C. Nielsen Company as a Research Analyst in the NTI division. In 1985, he left as an Account Executive to pursue a position with the CBS Television Network. |


Thomas Kehler Mr. Kehler brings over 25 years of experience as an entrepreneur and general manager in software and related businesses to Satmetrix. Mr. Kehler leads Informative products at Satmetrix. At Informative, Mr. Kehler led all corporate development, key technology partnerships and channel partner programs. Prior to Informative, Mr. Kehler was Chairman and CEO of Recipio from 1998 through January, 2002. Recipio developed and marketed the technology platform for Adaptive Conversations® and relationship marketing platform acquired by Informative. Before Recipio he was Chief Executive Officer of Connect, Inc. (CNKT), which pioneered application software for Internet-based e-commerce. Connect led the charge of building large scale e-commerce applications for major brands. Before Connect, Mr. Kehler was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IntelliCorp (INAI). IntelliCorp was the leading provider of application development software that incorporated expert systems, artificial intelligence and object oriented programming. Mr. Kehler has served on the Information Technology Advisory Board of the National Research Council. Mr. Kehler received a Ph.D. in applied physics from Drexel University. |


Burt Manning Burt Manning spent 29 years at J. Walter Thompson Co., (now known as JWT) the last ten as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He is the only creative person to hold that office, having served as Chief Creative Officer of the worldwide company before moving into corporate management. Under Manning’s leadership, the company produced acclaimed campaigns for such clients as DeBeers, Ford, Kraft, Kodak, Rolex, Unilever and hundreds more. Revenues doubled, profits quadrupled, and the company grew to 222 offices in 77 countries. He is the only person to be elected to both the Advertising Hall of Fame and the National Sales & Marketing Hall of Fame. Paul S. Maxwell Paul Maxwell is the Owner and CEO of Media Business Corp which publishes, skyreport.com, The BRIDGE Suite of news and analysis products and ancillary periodicals as well as provides research and database services. He is also the Founder and Columnist for CableFAX Daily, which Maxwell founded in 1989, the first daily, facsimile-distributed, advertising-supported newsletter, and CableWORLD magazine. Previously, Paul had started and/or run some 40+ publications ranging from CATV Newsweekly to Colorado Magazine to CableVision and Multichannel News. Paul also served as an Army officer working as a combat correspondent for Stars & Stripes and as a combat historian during two tours in Southeast Asia. He is a Founding Board Member of The Walter Kaitz Foundation; honorary board member of Cable Positive; founding member of C-TAM; Cable TV Pioneer (1990) and Member of the Pioneer Board; and a Board member of the Cable Center. In addition to his integral role in forming industry publications and associations, Paul is a decorated former Army Captain (Bronze Star with "V" for Valor; Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster). Recipient of the R. E. "Ted" Turner Innovator of the Year Award by the Southern Cable TV Association (1998), winner of the Vanguard Award for Associates & Affiliates by the National Cable Television Association (2000). He is a member of the Cable TV Hall of Fame (inducted in ’04). Paul routinely speaks at industry events and is a member of a number of commercial boards. |


William J. McKenna Bill McKenna is CEO and President of IMMI. He held the role of President & CEO of KMR North America, an operating unit of the KMR Group and WPP’s Kantar Group. KMR North America’s business practice includes KMR Software, MARs, MARs Medical, IntelliQuest, Mediafax and advisor to companies where WPP has strategic media measurement investments, including IMMI. Bill’s business career includes chief executive positions with several research companies including Mediafax, Inc., the Puerto Rico based TV Audience measurement Company Bill McKenna founded in 1988 and sold to WPP in 2001. Mediafax continues to flourish today as the leading research business operation in the Caribbean Region. Bill is an inventor and entrepreneur with several US Patents and the creator/initial developer of Arbitron’s 1980’s ScanAmerica single-source peoplemeter service. Bill is also a retired US Navy Reserve Captain, veteran and experienced naval aviator. He holds an MBA in Marketing from Northwestern University. |


Rick Sirvaitis A 37-year media veteran, Rick has run his own media and marketing consultancy, RS Media Marketing LLC for the past two years with such clients as Google TV, the NFL Network, Enversa and Gemstar/TV Guide among others. He is also co-founder of StoreBoard Media, and is currently an Entrepreneur in Residence for Constellation Ventures. Until May of 2005, Rick was President and COO of GM Mediaworks. His background includes President and COO of Phase2media, and prior to that, he was responsible for all advertising sales-related activity for Fox Family Channel, Fox Kids on Fox Broadcast network, Fox Kids magazine, Fox Family Countdown Radio and Fox Kids Webnet. Prior to his association with Fox Family Worldwide, Rick spent nine years with Turner Broadcasting Sales, Inc., having joined as vice president and sales manager in Detroit and ultimately rising to executive vice president, news. In this position, he was responsible for all domestic sales for CNN/Headline News, the CNN Broadcast Networks, the CNN Airport Channel, all other place-based media, as well as all advertising sales for the TBSI Internet properties. Prior to Turner, Rick spent five years in sales management at an NBC affiliate, three years with NBC Television Network Sales, three years at Blair television and four years at Campbell-Ewald Advertising. Rick is a member of the Board of Directors Crispy Gamer and the International Radio and Television Society. He is past chairman of the National Advisory Board of the Cable and Advertising Bureau, co-chairman of its Cable Industry Standards and Practices Committee and received the Bureau’s Presidents Award in 1993. |


Gary L. Ginsberg Executive Vice President, Global Marketing and Corporate Affairs Office of the Chairman News Corporation Gary L. Ginsberg was most recently the Executive Vice President of Global Marketing and Corporate Affairs at News Corporation, responsible for coordinating and executing the Company’s global marketing and investor relations programs, in addition to overseeing the Company’s corporate affairs, strategic communications, and philanthropic efforts. Mr. Ginsberg joined News Corporation in January 1999 as Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications. In June 2000, he was appointed to News Corporation’s Executive Management Committee. In 2007 he was appointed to the Company’s Office of the Chairman. Before joining News Corp., Mr. Ginsberg was a managing director at the New York-based strategic consulting firm of Clark & Weinstock. Previously, he was a senior editor and counsel of George, the monthly political magazine, and a former Assistant Counsel to President Clinton. Mr. Ginsberg began his professional career as an attorney with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett. He is a graduate of the Columbia University School of Law, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. O. Andrew (Andy) Jung Andy Jung is a nationally recognized media and advertising authority Andy is most recognized in his role as Senior Director of Advertising & Media for the Kellogg Company where he oversaw all strategic and buying for 33 national brands across a $500MM+ budget. He began his Kellogg marketing career heading the development and national launch of Kellogg’s Raisin Bran Crunch in 1999. He served as Global Project Team Director for Kellogg’s advertising agency compensation review that same year. Prior to Kellogg’s, Andy spent 6 years as U.S. Marketing and Product Management Director for Golden Books Family Entertainment, where he established and directed marketing, publishing and category management programs for the Company’s brands and key licensing partners Disney, Warner Bros. and Sesame Workshop. Andy began his career as an Account Executive, then Account Director at Tatham, Laird & Kudner in Chicago, and worked on the Nabisco, Coors and Dean Foods accounts. Andy presently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Advertising Federation, where he served as Chairman from 2005-2007. He has been a member of the National Advertising Review Board (NARB) since 2000 and serves as an advisor to the CBBB. He served on the Ad Council Board from 2003 – 2008, and is actively involved in many of the ANA committees and forums. He is the recipient of Advertising Age’s Media Maven Award in 2006. |
